Welcome to the Indiana University Business Continuity Planning resource pages. Here you will find tools to help you build a comprehensive plan, as well as other business continuity and disaster recovery information.
Business Continuity
Business continuity planning is the practice of proactively preparing how your service or business processes will be conducted during and after an event that affects your normal operating procedures. Your plan should consider all aspects of your unit – including but not limited to:
- people
- buildings
- equipment
- office needs
- computer requirements
Decisions made in advance while people are calm can save time and frustration under stressful times during an actual event.
The First Step
The first step in creating a solid business continuity plan for any service is to define all of the business processes and their dependencies on system and human resources. A planning tool is now available to assist you with the questions that need to be asked and answered to better prepare you for any event affecting your department, unit, or school.
All university departments should develop a business continuity plan for their business processes, which should also contain a detailed disaster recovery plan for internal applications and workstations in your department.
Disaster Recovery
Disaster Recovery planning refers to guidance developed for restoring and stabilizing the organization’s critical technology support components.
